Finally, with a delay of one year, we all know why, Dubai Expo 2020 is here! We’re so excited about that because we’ve just been there and we have some stories to tell.
We really loved the topic of this Exhibition: Connecting Minds and Creating the Future.
The concept is pretty simple: we can all improve our world and subsequently, improve our future. We can all do something as long as we’re on the same page and we’re able to exchange ideas: the more confrontation, the more improvement.
The main theme is split into three areas: sustainability, mobility and opportunity.
Needless to say, we enjoyed everything about it, but let us tell you about the things we’ve done and the people we’ve seen.
The Estonia pavilion
Definitely one of the coolest pavilions, the e-Estonia exhibition told us a beautiful story.
The story of the most advanced digital society in the world.
Over the last 30 years, Estonia has been building its digital infrastructures with one goal in mind: simplify as much as possible the connection and relationship between the institutions and the citizens.
Considering that in the 90s most of the population couldn’t access the internet, a lot of work has been done and the level of progress exceeded the expectations.
Our country has been trough a lot of changes in tdhe recent years, but everything was done in order to allow people to access services with a little and smooth bureaucracy. How do we know it works? Because 96% of Estonians file their taxes online in about 3 minutes. It’s one of the cool facts we heard when we where there.
The expositions in the pavilion also showed how research and development have been at the core of our progress as a country and how anything that could foster innovation was considered, evaluated and implemented, including the e-residency program.
Obviously, in the pavilion there was space for sustainability, too. Estonia is among the countries with the best air quality in the world, as well as some of the most beautiful, untouched landscapes.
Being a digital country also means preserving its natural heritage, and the guests of the pavilion could see and… taste it! Yes, there also was a good selection of Estonian dishes for everyone’s delight.
Finally, another great thing about the pavilion was that we had the honour of explaining our business model and the potential of opening a company in Estonia in literally less than 5 minutes. We’ve never been so proud of representing our country and provide new opportunities both to Estonia and the people who were at the Expo. Opportunity is one of the keywords, after all. That’s why we’re doing all this.
Our visit at GITEX
Not only the Expo, we’ve been at the GITEX, too, obviously at the fintech, marketing and startups sections.
750 startups from all around the world, all there to present their projects and compete for a $ 500,000 prize to enhance their businesses.
We won’t tell you about the robot doctor that can perfectly give you a diagnosis without human intervention, but just know we were impressed!
The workshops were also very interesting, touched important topics and left us satisfied with our experience.
Dubai Expo 2020 is a great experience for everyone, from casual visitors to business-minded people, and the Estonia pavilion is definitely one you should visit when it comes to talking about the future.
